Jefferson City, MO — Cyrus Dashtaki participated in Read Across America today, reading to third graders at East Elementary School in Jefferson City. He read McElligot's Pool, a children's classic from legendary author Dr. Seuss, that teaches about possibility.
"Dr. Seuss is timeless," said Dashtaki. "For over 80 years Dr. Seuss has inspired generations and taught valuable life lessons to children. Today, I joined hundreds of other volunteers reading to students across Missouri. McElligot’s Pool teaches us that despite others telling us that we'll never catch a fish in such a small pool, all of our dreams are possible if we believe.”
Dashtaki said he believes that "reading plays an integral role in early childhood development and is the foundation to a child's lifelong success," and that he hopes the kids will be inspired to continue to read every day. Dashtaki added that he and the class "pledged with all our might to read each and every night."
